The first four skills target yourself: What do you really want in this situation, what is your communication style, what impression of reality do you have, what are your intentions? The next four skills focus on the other person: creating safety, learning how to listen and react, and learning how to have a solution-focused dialogue. The ninth is a special skill: Action! How do you round off a positive crucial conversation? You do that by making clear commitments which, in the end, lead to measurable results.
