GWO: BST Refresher - First Aid (Adaptive e-learning + practical)

Target group:

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields, and will carry out their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or offshore wind structure. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or workplace, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate the identified risks.

Prerequisites:

Due to safety the delegate cannot weigh more than 136 kg/299,8 lbs fully equipped (incl. all PPE, equipment, clothing, etc.) The weight on the equipment is estimated to be 8 kg. Delegates must hold a valid and in-date GWO First Aid Certificate or Refresher Certificate. The online component of the course will provide you with the prerequisite knowledge and awareness required ahead of participation in the onsite practical sessions. The e-Learning can be started up to 4 weeks (maximum) prior and must be completed no later than 48 hours prior to initial classroom attendance date. The latest you can sign up for the Blended Course is 4 days prior to the classroom start date.

Objective:

The aim of this module is to learn to administer safe and effective First Aid in the wind turbine industry/Wind Turbine Generator environment in accordance with GWO First Aid training through theoretical and practical training.

Contents:

Understanding of the importance of carrying out First Aid in a safe and sound manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their geographic location and according to European Resuscitation Council and American Heart Association guidelines. Identify and explain normal function, normal signs, functions and symptoms of serious and minor injuries and illness related to the human body. Understanding and correct order of management in an emergency situation in a Wind Turbine Generator environment. Correct use of lifesaving first aid using the primary survey A-B-C. Correct use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). Correct use of ordinary First Aid, the secondary survey. Correct use of first aid equipment in a first aid scenario.
