The ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing based on the ISTQB Syllabus is a professional qualification that is recognized by many companies as the standard by which testing staff are measured. The certificate is rapidly becoming more important in an increasingly competitive market.
Intended audience
Software developers, testers (both technical and user acceptance testers), test analysts, test engineers, test consultants and managers, including testmanagers, project managers, quality managers- essentially anyone with an interest in testing.
There are no prerequisites to attending this course.
On completion participants will

Course outline
Day 1
- Fundamentals of testing
Why testing is necessary; what is testing; general testing principles; fundamental test process; psychology of testing - Testing throughout the software
life-cycle
Software development models; test levels; test types; the targets of testing; maintenance testing - Static techniques
Reviews and the test process; review process; static analysis by tools
Day 2
- Test design techniques
Identifying test conditions and designing test cases; categories of test design techniques; specification-based or black-box techniques; structure-based or whitebox techniques; experience-based techniques; choosing test techniques - Test management (part 1)
Test organization; test planning and estimation
Day 3
- Test management (part 2)
Risk and testing; incident management; test progress monitoring and control; configuration management - Tool support for testing
Types of test tool; effective use of tools: potential benefits and risks; introducing a tool into an organization - Examination (optional, but already included in the
course fee)
The course concludes with a one hour externally invigilated examination which is marked by ISEB. Examination results will be communicated by ISEB not later than 2 weeks after the examination date. Certificates will be issued at the same time or at the latest within 6 weeks of the result notification.
