Latest developments around a key instrument in the Climate Agreement
Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is regarded by many scientists as a key tool to reach the climate agreement goals. In all scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the International Energy Agency (IEA), CCUS is viewed as essential to a cost-effective energy transition.
In this intensive course, top experts offer an overview of the entire Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage value chain and the opportunities it offers. It looks in particular at the latest developments in the dynamic CCUS market.

During this intensive course you will
- Explore the full CCUS value chain, following the journey of CO2 from capture to transport, storage, and potential utilisation.
- Gain a clear understanding of the role CCUS plays in the energy transition, and how it complements other decarbonisation strategies on the path to net zero.
- Learn about the latest technologies and methods for capturing, transporting, and storing CO2 , along with the associated risks, infrastructure requirements, and best practices.
- Discover how captured CO2 can be applied in industrial processes and converted into valuable products, creating new opportunities for circular innovation.
- Gain insight into the European CCS landscape, with a focus on leading initiatives such as Porthos, Aramis, and the Delta Rhine Corridor, showcasing Europe’s frontrunner position in CCUS deployment.
- Examine the legal frameworks, economic outlooks and business models that enable the responsible and scalable implementation of CCUS projects.
About the programme
The intensive course CCUS offers a unique overview of all currently available technologies for capturing, transporting, storing and utilising CO2.
It also discusses the most relevant economic parameters, the regulatory framework and a number of innovative new projects and includes a business case in which all topics come together. You will also learn about the latest findings and techniques in CCUS. Most notably are insights in the current projects: Porthos, Aramis and the Delta Rhine Corridor Project.
Download the brochure to find more information about the programme.
After this course, you can:
- Understand the principles and technologies of CCUS and its role in the energy transition.
- Describe key carbon capture methods, including post-, pre-combustion, and oxyfuel technologies.
- Evaluate CO2 transport systems, risks, and strategies for safe underground storage.
- Analyze the role of CO2 utilization technologies and their applications in various industries.
- Identify economic and legal challenges and opportunities in scaling CCUS technologies.
- Discuss the regulatory frameworks, permitting processes, and future trends affecting CCUS.
- Assess the impact of large-scale CCUS projects like Porthos and Aramis on the energy sector.
- Apply insights from global projects and innovations to design a practical CCUS business case.
What’s included in the Intensive Course CCUS
As part of this course, you’ll receive one year of access to all learning materials via our dedicated Online Learning Platform. After completing the programme, you will receive a digital certificate of participation, which can be easily added to your LinkedIn profile. Each course day includes a well-catered lunch, with two evening dinners offering time to connect informally with fellow participants.
A highlight of the programme is a unique site visit to the Maasvlakte, where participants will explore the Porthos and Aramis projects – two of Europe’s leading carbon capture and storage (CCUS) initiatives. In addition, you’ll get exclusive access to TNO’s CO₂ Laboratory in Rijswijk, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the latest innovations and technologies in carbon capture and storage.
Accommodation is not included, but our event managers are happy to advise on suitable hotel options. A dedicated event manager will be on-site at all times to support you throughout the course and answer any questions you may have.
