Scrum team member, Product Owner, or Scrum Master?
We often get asked which training people who want to work in an agile manner ideally 'should' follow. Our answer is that it depends on which role best fits your interest and personality.
In a core scrum team, there are three different roles: Scrum Master, Scrum Product Owner, and Scrum team members. The Product Owner is the one who, together with the customer, determines what needs to be made and with what priority. The Scrum team then decides how it should be made based on that input and plans the work. The Scrum Master facilitates and coaches the team and ensures that the scrum process is properly followed.

Do you enjoy actually creating something and are you a specialist in a specific area? Then there's a good chance you would be best suited as a Scrum team member. If you find it challenging to represent the customer and have a clear vision of what needs to be made, then the role of Product Owner might be perfect for you. If you enjoy being a servant leader, facilitating people, and are more interested in the project as a process, then you might be a very good Scrum Master.
